123 model literally means $1 - $2 - $3 model. You start with as low as just $1 for a test that we do on the product. Fixed bid model will work when you have a clear requirements specifications document for the product. Most of the times, this is out of sync with current product version. So testing service provider cannot give a clear quote. On the other hand, if you go for time and material mode, with a few dedicated offshore testing resources, due to unpredictable build delays and scope changes, you may not be able to load the resoruces 100%. This leads to a question, should I pay when resources are not doing any productive work for me.

This is where 123 model comes into picture. We classify tests in the following Low, Medium, High categories

1. Text field validation tests on the UI (such as junk text, wrong data type, boundary values etc.) belong to Low complexity category. All fields in a single form, will be considered as just 1 test
2. Form submission tests to create or update or delete or view records on screens, belong to Medium complexity category. Each CRUD (Create or Read or Update or Delete) action in a form is treated as a single test
3. Workflow tests that move data from one form to another or from one user to another, as part of business scenario, belong to High complexity category.
4. Report or chart testing is treated as High complexity test, as this needs a lot of data preparation effort

Our pricing is very simple and transparent. The cost of Low, Medium and High complexity tests are $1, $2 and $3 respectively. Once we plan the tests that are to be carried out for your product, we will get approval from you on the tests that we do, and execute only those tests that you are happy with. We will charge only for those tests that we execute.

123 pricing is only for the first round of testing. For the subsequent rounds, the cost is flat $1 per test that is executed. You save more money. You may ask why first round it is higher than the subsequent rounds. Before we do the very first round of testing, we need to understand the product functionality, arrive at tests and this takes some significant effort. That is why first round is slightly higher. Once the tests are documented, subsequent rounds will go smooth and faster.

2. The cost of first round of testing is [60 * $1] + [30 * $2] + [20 * $3] = $60 + $60 + $60 = $180

4. Your cost for round 2 is $110 for 110 tests, your cost for 3rd round is $110 for 110 tests
